Leather UnLimited is a fair trade company based in London, England. Founded in 1986, at the end of the United Nations Decade for Women, by Claire Weldon and others, originally as Ambika Ltd and renamed in 2001, with the aim of enabling women in the Third World to earn a living by selling their handmade products.
We now manufacture handmade leather goods in Bangladesh. We have been working there exclusively since 1988 and over the years have assisted the artisans we work with to improve the quality of what they make both in workmanship and design. We also market their products around the world.
Our showroom is in Central London close to Regent’s Park.

Since the late 80’s…
Leather Unlimited has been a sustainable and ethical company working with dedicated artisans in Bangladesh to create beautifully crafted and colourful leathergoods.
We have worked with our Bangladesh based artisans providing them an outlet for their skills and a steady fair income to support themselves and their families as well as educate their children.
Working Collaboratively…
With our artisans we create and market our unique products worldwide while helping them to further improve their workmanship and design.
Our products come from sheep and goat skins that are sourced exclusively as a by-product of the local food industry in Bangladesh, helping to further reduce waste in their country and our environment. Each skin is produced using a traditional vegetable tanning process, creating a much smaller impact on the environment compared to the typical chemical tanning processes.

With these traditional processes and natural materials come a degree of variation in skin and intensity of colour enhancing the attractive qualities of each piece. Over time a natural change in colour can also be expected as each item develops its own unique patina.
